After a fantastic 2023 regatta, the team at Britannia Events were thrilled to kick off our 2024 calendar with the much-loved Legal Cup. The 33rd edition saw teams from top UK law firms gather in Cowes for a weekend jam packed with sailing and entertainment.
Teams from Bird & Bird, Dechert and Fieldfisher began with a training session on Friday 17th May, with teams from Linklaters, Ashurst, Schillings Partners and Herbert Smith Freehills arriving early on Saturday 18th, geared up for a day of exciting races, followed by an evening of festivities at Cowes Yacht Haven.
Fun for funds: raising money and awareness for Plan B Alternative Provision
Following a day of sailing on the Solent, teams prepared for Saturday’s much anticipated gala dinner, aimed not only at having tons of fun, food and French cocktails, but to also support Plan B Alternative Provision, our not for profit partner for the 2024 season.
A Paris Olympics-themed gala featured a delicious 3-course meal, a complimentary French Martini courtesy of long standing Britannia partner, Salcombe Gin, a 3D photo booth, live music from The The Pinstripe Band, and fundraising games. These efforts raised an impressive £905.
Plan B Principal, John Gillard, said, “We raised a total of £905 on the night, which is fabulous and will go towards purchasing our new water sports trailer, allowing more students to access the water on our expedition paddle sports programmes. Thank you once again and we look forward to building on this for the Legal Cup 2025.”
