The 34th edition of our much-loved Legal Cup Regatta is set to sail into action on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May 2025. As the legal industry’s premier social, sporting, and networking event, this annual regatta has grown into one of the largest of its kind in the UK, drawing professionals from across the country for a weekend of team building, networking, and pure, unfiltered fun!
But what makes the Legal Cup so special? Event Manager Sonya Russell shares everything you need to know about this extraordinary event:
What is the Legal Cup Regatta?
The Legal Cup is an annual sailing regatta designed exclusively for the legal sector, running strong for over 30 years. Hosted on the south coast near Southampton, this event is much more than a regatta—it’s an opportunity to connect with industry peers, build camaraderie, and test your competitive edge in a unique setting. It’s also a chance to support a great cause, with proceeds benefiting Plan B Alternative Provision, our chosen not-for-profit partner for 2025.
Who Can Join?
Anyone connected to the legal industry is welcome to participate! Whether you’re a lawyer, barrister, QC, paralegal, support staff, or a sector supplier, gather your team and join us for an unforgettable weekend.
Past attendees of the Legal Cup Regatta include: Allen & Overy, Ashurst, Bird & Bird, Dechert, Freshfields, Herbert Smith Freehills, and Linklaters, to name a few.
Do I Need Sailing Experience?
Absolutely not! Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or stepping aboard for the first time, we’ve got you covered. Our fleet of Oceanis 37 and First 40 yachts comes with professional skippers and first mates—many of whom are qualified instructors—ensuring everyone competes on an even keel.
