After a challenging 2020, it was an absolute delight to see so many old and new faces back in Port Hamble for corporate sailing days and regattas throughout the 2021 season. Guests from all over the UK joined us to enjoy a range of sailing events, from one day corporate charters out on the Solent to week long hospitality packages to motivate, reward and inspire employees and clients at Cowes Week.
As 2021 draws to a close, we wanted to share our highlights from what we think has been a cracking year and look forward to another busy, successful and exciting season in 2022.

Round the Island Race
Arguably one of the most prestigious sailing events in the world, we were delighted to welcome guests from all over the UK to take part in the Round the Island Race 2021.

Crews enjoyed stunning views of The Needles and St. Catherine’s Point, as well as long stretches of beaches scattered with spectators, all there to cheer on the entries from a wide selection of classes. Although winds were light, the crews were still able to enjoy a cracking day’s sailing before heading ashore in Cowes in the evening to enjoy post race celebrations, and while these were limited this year due to COVID regulations, our clients still had an amazing time before heading home on Sunday.
Congratulations to all the teams who took part. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2022.

Cowes Week
After a year’s hiatus, we were thrilled to see so many regular faces join us for Cowes Week 2021. This year’s hospitality area saw us and our guests enjoy beautiful views out over the cannons from the Royal Ocean Racing Club, a new location for us and our teams, where we welcomed employees and clients from companies including Eurotank, Bordier, Ashurst, JP Morgan and Virtus.
Enjoying both racing and spectating packages, clients sailed out of Cowes each day on one of our sleek, First 40’s to compete against the professional teams with our knowledgeable skippers as well as experiencing exhilarating RIB rides, and benefiting from access to a reserved VIP table within Britannia’s exclusive hospitality area at RORC, where we served up a selection of delicious BBQ and charcuterie plates alongside tasty gin & tonics, courtesy of our partners Salcombe Gin.

While some days welcomed more wind than others, with AP/APs being announced on two separate occasions, our delegates were not deterred, taking advantage of the stunning sunny views from our hospitality area while they waited for sailing to recommence.
Congratulations to all of those who took part this year. Next year’s event will take place from Friday 30th July – Saturday 6th August and will see us return to Cowes Yacht Haven where we’ll be welcoming guests once again from all over the UK.

The Legal Cup
Our last corporate regatta for 2021 saw us welcome clients from law firms from all across the UK for the 30th instalment of The Legal Cup – and what an out of this world event it was!
Teams from Linklaters, Bird & Bird, Freshfields, Herbert Smith Freehills and Ashurst arrived in Hamble on Friday 24th for a training day before heading out on the water on Saturday 25th for a day of racing. Winds were light but the teams still managed to enjoy a few hours of exciting sailing before heading back to Port Hamble to enjoy a gala dinner at the Royal Southern Yacht Club. The theme was ‘Out of this world’ and the task was to have fun and raise money for Britannia’s 2021 charity partner, Oarsome Chance.

Guests were treated to a night of good food, complementary drinks courtesy of our partners Salcombe Gin and Mount Gay Rum, music and fundraising activities including heads or tails, an auction and a sponsored row, and raised an enormous £1660 for the charity.
Crews returned to the water on Sunday morning for a final day of racing on the Solent before Linklaters took both 1st and 2nd place, with Bird & Bird coming 3rd. Congratulations to all of the teams who took part. We look forward to welcoming you all for the 31st staging of The Legal Cup which is set to take place from Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd May 2022.
