Britannia Events are delighted to announce not for profit organisation Plan B Alternative Provision as their official fundraising partner for 2024, with all fundraising proceeds from Britannia’s organised events including the 2024 Legal Cup being donated to the organisation.
Working with young people from Hampshire and surrounding South East areas of the UK, the organisation supports young adults who are, for whatever reason, unable to engage with mainstream education.
The organisation’s philosophy is simple: Plan A (mainstream education) has failed so Plan B (alternative provision) must be different.
The highly experienced, caring and empathetic staff offer the students a ‘place to belong‘ by delivering vocational education as a route to employability based around the diverse local marine industry, with transferable skills into other industries. In addition, the organisation also supports curriculum based core subjects such as Maths and English by applying them in every day real life scenarios through good communications and applied applications, all with a vision to help support the young adults as they transition into ‘the real world’.
As the students grow with Plan B, so does the reach into the community, spreading the ethos exponentially, ensuring no child is left behind.
Founder of the organisation, John Gillard, said, “We are absolutely buzzing to have Britannia Events supporting Plan B throughout the 2024 event season and are excited to kick things off with the fabulous Legal Cup.
“It will be great to see the teams back out on the water competing, whilst knowing that the generosity of the guests is contributing to the sustainability of future generations.”
Events Manager, Sonya Russell, added, “Having worked with John and some of the youngsters in the past, it is an absolute honour to be able to support him build this fantastic new not for profit organisation.
“Mainstream education is not for everyone, but that’s not to say that those individuals who can’t engage in the traditional curriculum should be ‘written off’ and it is thanks to people like John that these individuals are given a second chance.”
In the words of Albert Einstein, ‘If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its entire life believing it is stupid.’ In this case, Plan B are on hand to lead the fish towards a much more welcoming habitat where they can use their vocational skills to build a positive future.
We hope you’ll help us support the organisation and look forward to seeing the organisation grow with the help of our clients.
