Following a successful event in 2022, we were delighted to start off our 2023 event calendar with the popular Legal Cup. The 32nd staging of this popular regatta saw teams from some of the UK’s biggest law firms join us in Cowes for a weekend of sailing and entertainment.
Teams from Cornerstone Research and Herbert Smith Freehills joined us on Friday 19th May for a training session out on the Solent, before guests from Dechert, Linklaters, and Bird & Bird arrived on the morning of Saturday 20th, ready for a day of racing and an evening of food, fun and photo booths at Cowes Yacht Haven.
Raising money and awareness for alternative education provisions
Winds were favourable, which meant the teams enjoyed three exhilarating races before heading over to Cowes where guests would prepare for a Superhero themed gala dinner at Cowes Yacht Haven. The objective – to have fun and raise money for Britannia’s 2023 not for profit partner, Plan B Alternative Provisions.

Guests were treated to a night of good food, a complementary rum punch courtesy of our partners, Salcombe Gin, a photo booth, music and fundraising activities including heads or tails and a raffle, helping to raise staggering £942 for the organisation.

And the winner is…Bird & Bird
Crews returned to the water on Sunday morning for a final day of very close racing on the Solent before Bird & Bird took 1st position, with Cornerstone Research and Dechert placing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
